| You've
seen what these actors have been up to
these days, now check out some of their
interviews as they discuss their
experience on the TV show. Some have
vague memories but some have described
some of the events very well. |

Les Lye
played all the male adult roles in the
series and was indeed a versatile actor
as he was creative by doing many
different voices for the series. He was
most notably for his parts as the
technical program director Ross for the
dome skits, Senator Prevort in the
dungeon skits with his German accent, Mr.
Shidtler the high strung school teacher
in the classroom and the low belching
beer guzzling father in the living room
skits all of which he played in the
sister show You Can't Do That On
Television.
He also had his own children's series
titled Uncle Willy & Floyd
that he started in the 60's and was still
running when this show aired on CJOH TV
considered the longest running TV series
in Canada.
He was seen in the TV pilot UFO
Kidnapped as well as Gramps in
the Nickelodeon produced series Turkey
Television plus did many voice
over work in cartoons which lied his true
craft of acting as he went to radio
school with Leslie Neilson and
participated in some Christmas shows for
YTV titled Santa Calls which
he dressed up as Santa and was taking
live phone calls from kids.
Today he lives in Ottawa still and is
working on his autobiography and has
permanently retired from acting. |

Ruth
Buzzi is no virtual unknown for
sure! She played all the female adult
characters such as the mother of the kids
Valerie, the nasty abusive school teacher
Miss Fit, the very nasal script girl Miss
Time, Mr. Dime's southern talking
secretary Miss Take, the crazy old lady
in the movie theatre and other roles too.
Ruth was born at Westerly, Rhode Island
and she had a degree in theatre school
and performed in musical revue stage
productions in NYC. She also did a
multitude of national television and
radio commercials and also won an award
for one of them.
She guested in TV shows
afterwards as well as doing voice work
and then became a regular in the late
night show The Steve Allen Comedy
Hour. Then she auditioned for a
TV special called Rowan &
Martin's Laugh-In which then
became a successful TV series replacing
the show as Ruth proved her talents as a
comedy actress as she played roles like
an old lady beating people with her
purse, roles very much like in WTYO
and because of that show she guest
starred on just about every musical
variety and sketch show that aired.
She appeared in many films and other TV
shows throughout her career too and
continues to do voice over's for animated
series as well as still being a regular
for other TV shows including Sesame
Street. |

Well Christine
McGlade who was nicknamed Moose
was the host of WTYO as
she had a knack for comedy and was a
natural ham. She was also the oldest kid
on the show to top it off. She came to
the very first audition of the sister
show You Can't Do That On
Television as her friend was
nervous of auditioning alone as Christine
herself wasn't planning to audition but
the producer Roger Price
told her she had to audition or leave so
she won the main part of the show but her
friend never spoke to her again.
Afterwards she hosted YCDTOTV
till 1986, a regular for a game show
series strictly for CJOH-TV in which she
also produced titled Something
Else along with a handful of
other people from YCDTOTV
in 1981 but the series was short-lived
and starred in a TV pilot with Kevin
Somers and Jono Gebert (They were also
school buddies with her) titled Bear
Rapids.
She then starred in another series based
on the fame of YCDTOTV
called Turkey Television
in 1988, went to art school and made a
couple of short films there and then in
1995 worked as a director for TVOntario
for 9 years and now has returned to
children's television as the producer for
CBC Playground, the
block of children's programming on CBC
She also participated in the
SlimeCon 2002 TV special. She is
married with a family. She also attended
the SlimeCon 2004 Reunion |

Kevin Somers was
the airhead of the cast and was naturally
a character and one of the best male
actors in the show.
He guested in the pilot episode of the
sister show You Can't Do That On
Television along with highschool
friend Jono Gebert and
then became a regular in WTYO
and after the plug was pulled on this
show he returned to YCDTOTV
when it revived in 1981 with Jono but
they only appeared in the dungeon and
execution scenes due to their age as they
wanted younger kids on the show this time
and both of them were 16 years of age and
never returned for the next season.
CJOH-TV did produce a short-lived spinoff
game show strictly for their local
station titled Something Else
as most of the cast were used for the
series including Kevin himself.
Then Kevin, Jon and Christine McGlade
starred in a TV pilot titled Bear
Rapids but apparently the show
never aired on TV. Although Kevin was
quite a character, he never stuck to
acting like most of the other kids.
He is teaching at a University. He also
writes from time to time and hopes to
have a novel published and is a writer
for the Womens
Post. Plus is
married with a family.
Kevin was at the SlimeCon 2004
Reunion. |

|
Jono Gebert was
our local forecast guy at the studio who
usually had a bucket of water dumped on
his head by some of the people there.
Plus he was usually tricked into getting
green slimed during the dungeon skits
(Most notably during the Superstition
epsiode).
Well Jono was good friends with Kevin
Somers and Christine McGlade as they all
went to school together and were a
regular in the sister show You
Can't Do That On Television and
when it revived in 1981 he was only in
the dungeon and execution skits due to
his age and got booted off after the
season was finished.
He also starred in the CJOH short-lived
game show Something Else (Although
he has no recollection of the series) and
the TV pilot with Christine and Kevin
afterwards called Bear Rapids
but decided to walk away from acting.
He worked as a tax accountant between
1989-90.
Today Jono is currently living in Alberta
and the province is richer for him as he
is an executive director at the
University in Calgary for the faculties
of Kinesilogy Study of Movement.
Jono was also at the Slimecon
2004 Reunion |

Marc Baillon
was the one who tried to get a date with
Moose and was always trying to be avoided
getting kissed by his Aunt Agatha.
Marc was in a
few episodes of the sister show You
Can't Do That On Television in
1979 and then this show WTYO
but never returned to YCDTOTV
when it re-aired in 1981 because it was
getting in the way with his schooling and
his parents told him to quit.
He used to be a member of a scout troop
that attended a jamboree in Scotland the
summer before both shows began and had
been recruited for show because of his
involvement in a musical troop.
Marc has been busy after his part in both
shows. He joined the Air Force
with his military college and was all
over Canada, Greenland, Italy and served
a tour in Somalia too.
He then retired from it and travelled
through Asia and taught English in Korea.
Then he started a family of his own with
two kids and have also been working on Public
Relations as a writer for the
last 2 years. So this was a different
leap for him.
He was at both of the reunions at
SlimeCon. The 2002 and 2003. |

Rodney Helal was
the little kid who was fighting with Lisa
Ruddy, always getting pied in
the face by people like Somers
and Gebert but one time
he got to be boss cause his uncle was in
charge of the show in Boss Helal
and decided to fire almost everyone and
cut down their payments.
He along with everyone else was in the
sister show You Can't Do That On
Television until 1981 as he was
one of the first cast members on the show
and he was cast on the pilot UFO
Kidnapped as a Horned Boy in
1983.
At a reunion convention in 2000 he said
he one time stayed at Ruth
Buzzi's house with Kevin
Schenk during the Christmas week
of 1979 when the plug was pulled on WTYO
as he found it a great experience as he
was only 11 at the time.
He kept acting as a sideline and in 1992
he played a terrorist/kidnapper in Rescue
911 as well as doing some TV
commercials and industrial videos. He now
works as as Information
Technology Consultant
specialising in Microsoft
Networking.
He too was at both of the reunions at
SlimeCon. The 2002 and 2004.
He most recently got married. |
|
|

 |
|
Kevin Schenk was
one of the youngest cast members on the
show and he was in some episodes of the
sister show You Can't Do that On
Television beforehand and was
always in trouble for not taking his work
seriously.
He was well remembered for his role as
the little kid in the pilot episode of WTYO
as his desperate mother (Played by Ruth
Buzzi) was trying to get him in
the show doing everything she can in
order to do so.
After the plug was pulled on the show he
returned to YCDTOTV with
the rest of the cast in 1981 but after
that season was finished he got the boot
as he was getting too old like Somers
and Gebert were.
But since then he used his talents in
different ways as he graduated from ad
and design school and worked at local
design firms and National Arts
Centre.
The he graduated from Carleton
University with Mass
Comm Honours Degree and from
1988 till present day he heads an Ottawa
based graphic design, marketing and
website development firm.
He did attend some YCDTOTV
reunion conventions but never
participated in the SlimeCon 2002
TV special. |

|

 |
|
Lisa Ruddy was
another remembered character in the show
even if she was only in about a half of
the episodes during it's 12 episode run
always fighting with Rodney Helal
and one time trying to get him slimed but
she always fell for it on the Superstitions
episode.
She was also a regular in the sister show
You Can't Do That On Television
until 1985 as she was dismissed along
with Christine McGlade
since the two of them were the key
members to the series.
Some of the skits she did on YCDTOTV
were re-used and shot in some eps of WTYO
too.
Lisa also participated in the short-lived
game show Something Else
with Somers, Gebert and McGlade.
She did however attend the reunions and
was one of the people who participated in
the SlimeCon 2002 TV
special.
She is happily married with two kids and
also runs a funeral home. |
